Scrap Africa's 'Washi tape and Twine' challenge

Hi everyone! Hope you had a great weekend and are ready for the new week that awaits! A bit optimistic I know. Lol! We had a fairly busy weekend.  My hubby was away for work the last two weekends, so we had loads of little projects to catch up on as well as social commitments on Friday and Saturday. A full weekend but very enjoyable. :)
Scrap Africa's new challenge went live today and it's a great one! All you have to do is to use Washi tape and twine on your layout. Then link it to the bottom of THIS post on the Scrap Africa blog before the end of the month.  To see the rest of the DT's gorgeous creations, have a look HERE.
Here is my layout.  I have tried my hand at the mixed media thing again. I am constantly amazed and inspired by the stunning work of my gorgeous online scrappy friend Kelly Foster and a lot of my inspiration for this layout comes from looking at her blog. Thank you Kelly. :) xx
I've started with a sheet of patterned paper from the new Bo Bunny 'The Avenues' collection.  The photo is one of my mum's side of the family at Christmas 1964.  I am happy to say, that it was before I was born. Lol!  My grandmother and grandfather are sitting in the middle with their 5 children and their husbands/wives as well as 9 grandchildren at the time.  I was one of 7 more grandchildren that followed.
WARNING!!  Close up overload ahead! :)  First is a little close up of my flower cluster, with some beautiful Petaloo flowers and metal pieces from Prima and Tim Holtz.  I've added hemp twine to the button at the top of the cluster and a bow at the bottom. :)
A close up of the strips of washi tape as well as strips of torn calico, lace, etc.  I've added more texture using a Prima stencil and some Texture Magic.
More of the stencil work.  My title was cut using my Silhouette machine.
Another close up for good measure. :)
I hope you get a chance to play along with this challenge.  Would love to see your entries.
That's all I have for today!  I better get to bed.  Thank you so much for visiting.  I hope you have a wonderful week!
Until next time.

All romantic with MME Cut & Paste 'Flair'

Hi there everyone! I hope you are having a lovely Sunday afternoon.  It's been another beautiful day in Perth, so I can't complain. :)  I've had a play with my DT kit from The Scrapbook Store last night.  It's packed with the gorgeous MME Cut & Paste 'Flair' collection.  I've decided to use a photo of hubby and I taken on his 50th birthday in January this year.  I love the black chalkboard background of this paper.
A little close up.  The stickers in this collection are gorgeous too.  I've used the new WOW Alta Matz 'Chevron Flowers' stencil to create some texture.  These stencils are quite thick and gives a lovely 3D effect when you use texture pastes, or in this case Atelier 'Heavy White Gesso Primer'.  I added the pink by spraying a bit of Heidi Swapp 'Primrose' mist on a piece of paper and just wiping it over the top of the gesso with my craft knife.

My title is a chipboard 'wordlet' from Scrap FX.  I've inked it first, then covered it in  X-Press It 'Clear Glue', then sprinkled some of the brand new Ranger Ink 'Distress Glitter' over the top of it. (I used colour 'Spun Sugar'). Once dried, I sprayed a few coats of Helmar 'Crystal Kote' over the top of it.  I used the Crafters Workshop 'Confetti' stencil and rubbed some glue over the little hearts and covered it with glitter too.  I love the subtle shiny colour it adds. :)

That's all for now. I hope to be back with some more layouts soon.  Thank you for  visiting and have a wonderful day/afternoon!
Until next time.

August sketch at The Scrapbook Store

Hi everyone! Spring is definitely in the air here in Perth today.  It's a beautiful sunny day!  My DD and I went for walk this morning and it was great to just enjoy the lovely fresh air.
If you haven't seen the August Sketch over at The Scrapbook Store yet, then you're missing out!  Melinda Spinks has designed another gorgeous sketch and the DT girls have done a fabulous job in the different ways they've interpreted it.  Just go and look in the gallery here.
Here's the sketch.
And here is my take on it.  I've used the MME Find your Wings and Fly 'Up & Away' collection.  As most of you would know already... I love MME! :)  The photo is an older one of my DD, taken in December 2007.  Lol!  I've got a thing for older photos these days!
I've used the Crafter Workshop 'Mini Art Is' template with some Texture Magic.  The doily is from Bo Bunny and the title is from the fabric alpha set of the Prima 'Divine' range.
I used a few different washi tapes and this cute little wood veneer bicycle from WOW.
Also played around with some mists, inks and the Crafters Workshop 'Mini Punchinella' template
And another little close up. :)
That's all I have for today.  I hope you get a chance to play along.  There's a lovely $40 store voucher (with free postage) up for grabs!  The winner gets determined by random draw, so all you have to do is enter.  You have until the end of the month to do so.  Good luck!
Thank you for visiting.  Have a wonderful day!
Until next time.

Scrap Africa Sketch No. 21

I can't believe it's Spring already!  Hope you had a lovely sunny day in your part of the woods and a Happy Fathers Day to all the special dads here in Australia.
Well,  a new month brings a new challenge at Scrap Africa.  Here is the sketch for September.
And here is my example.  The photo is of my aunt (my mum's sister) on her wedding day in 1955.  I have used the gorgeous Prima 'Lyric' collection.
A close up of my cluster of Prima flowers and wooden embellishments.
A beautiful silky rose and a heart charm with a short line of pearls underneath. :)
Another little close up. :)
And my title.  I have rubbed some gesso over my chipboard word and then added some colour using my pink and brown ink pads. :)
I hope you get a chance to play along with us.  For more inspiration on how to interpret the sketch, visit the Scrap Africa Blog to see the DT's beautiful creations.
That's all I have for this lovely Spring day... oops, I meant night. Thank you so much for visiting.  Have a wonderful week!
Until next time.
