Once Upon A Sketch

My 3rd post in 2 days! I don't think I've ever done that before. :)  It's nearly end of the month, so not too much time left to get my layout in that I've created for Once Upon a Sketch. I absolutely adore Nadia's sketches and I always have the best intentions to play along, but you know how it goes.
This month I had the opportunity as I went to the HBS Retreat over the weekend and had a bit more time to create. :) The challenge for May is to interpret the theme 'Mum' however you like and to base your layout on the next sketch.
I knew straight away what I wanted to do, but it was a bit of an emotional struggle for me. You see, I don't often put my private thoughts on paper for the world to see, but on the other hand, I knew that this would be therapeutic for me at the same time. As the mother of 2 teenagers, I constantly struggle with the fact that I have to 'let go'. It's so hard to see your kids wanting to make their own decisions (even if you know it's the wrong ones) and to let it happen. So this layout is for my son (he's 19 and well on his way to becoming an adult), so that he knows that no matter what... I'll always be there for him.  I've mainly used the Bo Bunny 'Country Garden' collection.
A close up of my journalling...
 and my title...
... and my little cluster. :)
I love how it's turned out and I'm intending to play along with Once Upon A Sketch more often. :)
Thank you for popping by my blog and for your comments.  They make my day.
Until next time.

I'm back...

...with another layout!  Lol... didn't think I would be back so soon, did you? I just loved this sketch from Stuck Sketches and decided to play along (again). This one is for the 1st of May sketch.
Here is my take on it using my gorgeous DT kit from Handmade by Suzanne.  I adore this collection from Crate Paper called 'Pretty Party'.  The pics are of my friend's little girl.  It was such a hot day and she was very thirsty. :)
A close up of my cluster.  The Melissa Frances resin butterflies are just gorgeous. The flowers are all from Prima.  I've used American Crafts DIY Thickers again with POP! Microbeads stuck on top.  Love how it has turned out and I think I'll be using these more often.
Another little cluster with a Melissa Frances butterfly. :)
Thank you once again for visiting my little blog and for all your lovely comments.  They make my day.  Have a great week!
Until next time.

Stuck?

Hi everyone! I hope you had a fabulous weekend! I went to the HBS Retreat and it was a total blast! Late nights, lots of laughter and a bit of scrapping too. :)  It was great catching up with the girls.
I managed to do a few layouts.  Not as many as I would've liked to, but I'm not complaining.  First up is a layout based on the 15th May challenge at Stuck Sketches
Here is the sketch:
And here is my take on it.  The pic is of my DD and my mum taken a month ago. One of my favourite pics of our holiday.  I've used my DT kit from Handmade by Suzanne.  Most of it is from the Crate Paper 'Pretty Party' collection. Real pretty papers. :)
I've got loads of washing and housework to catch up on, but I will be back with another layout very soon. :)
Thanks for popping by!
Until next time.

A beautiful view

I've had a little time to scrap last night and it felt so good! I don't seem to get too much time lately to be creative. :(
My DT pack from Handmade by Suzanne is full of Crate goodness this month. I've created this layout using the Crate Paper 'Pretty Party' collection. I can't wait to create more with this gorgeous range.  The pic is of my DH with the family.  We took them all over Perth this particular day to show them all the beautiful sites.  Here we were at Heathcote where you can see a stunning view of Perth City across the Swan River.
A little close up of the new DIY Thickers that's in store now.  They come in various designs and are sticky on both sides so you can customize them to suit your layout.  I've used POP! Microbeads on mine.
The tags on my layout are from the back of one of the pattern papers.
I also had a play with my MT Masking tape.:)
That's all I have to share this time.  I'm hoping to be more blog active as from next week.  My parents are leaving on Monday to go back home. :(  I will miss them so much and the house will be way too quiet after having people around every day for 2 months.
I have something to look forward to though.  I'm off to the Handmade by Suzanne Retreat over the weekend!  Looking so forward to seeing some of the lovely ladies again that I met last time. A whole weekend of creating and laughing!  Bring it on! :)
Well, that's all for today.  I hope to be back soon with more layouts to share. If not before, it will most definitely be after next weekend.
Thank you so much for visiting! Hope you are all having a wonderful weekend.
Until next time.

Big Ben

Happy Mothers Day everyone!  I hope you had a lovely day and were spoilt rotten by your kids and hubbies.  I have my mum here with me for Mothers Day for the first time in over 20 years!  In fact I think it might be over 30 years.  As I was in boarding school and have always lived far away from home, I was never at home during Mothers Day.  A bit say hey?  I am so blessed to have my mum and dad visiting at the moment and to have my kids right here with me.  Both Mum and I were very spoilt. :)
I'm just popping in to share my example on the sketch challenge over at Handmade by Suzanne. This month's beautiful sketch was designed by the very lovely Nadia Cannizzo. Here it is:
And here is my take on it.  The pic is a very old one (before the digital camera) of Big Ben in London.  I was there in 2001.  I've used the beautiful Pink Paislee 'London Market' collection.
A close up of the WOW chipboard frame that I altered using gesso and a bit of pink and black paint. :)
The wooden clock and all the flowers are from Prima and butterfly 'trail' is part of a Zva Creative flourish.
Most of the emphemera are from the Pink Paislee 'London Market' collection. Love this gorgeous birdcage and birdie.
I would love to see your take on this gorgeous sketch.  All you have to do to take part, is load your layout in the gallery before the end of the month. You could win a $30 store voucher including free postage.  The winner gets determined by random draw, so anyone can win!
That's all I have for today.  Thank you for visiting and for your lovely comments.
Have a great week!

May Challenge at Scrap The Girls

Hi beautiful people!  I'm am rushing around like crazy at the moment to get ready for my DD Year 12 ball that's tomorrow night.  The limo is picking everybody up from our house, so I need to clean up and provide snacks and drinks while they wait.
I'm just flying past to share the Scrap The Girls May challenge with you.  All you have to do is create a layout using the following quote:  'Having a sister is like having a best friend you can't get rid of.  You know whatever you do, they'll still be there." -Amy Li.  Just remember, ONLY girls.
Here is my layout.  I've used a photo of my mum and her sister while we were on holidays last month.
I have used the 'Pretty in Pink' collection from Glitz Design together with some beautiful Prima flowers, a wooden Prima clock face and a Kaisercraft wooden 'Berry Vine'.
A close up of my title.
Love the wooden butterfllies from Kaisercraft.
All products are available from Handmade by Suzanne.
Okay, got to rush.  Cleaning, shopping, etc to be done. :)
Thanks for popping by and have a great day!
Until next time.
