Layout for Blue Fern Studios' October Sketch Challenge

Hi there scrappy friends. I really love the October sketch on the Blue Fern Studios blog this month, so decided to play along. Here is the awesome sketch.
And here is my layout using the awesome Blue Fern 'Frolic' collection.  The 3 frames around my photos were cut from the 'Amoroso' sheet from the collection.  The photos are of my daughter's 3rd birthday party in 1998.  Oh, how I miss those days... xx
I decided to use 3 photos instead of one, but otherwise I pretty much stuck to the sketch (I think).
I have used Blue Fern chipboard 'Grid pieces' under my photos and the butterfly and bird were cut from one of the patterned papers from this collection.
The word 'Precious' was cut from one of the patterned papers in the collection too and the little resin angel was from an older Prima release.
And finally, my 'little Angel' chipboard title... also from Blue Fern Studios. :)
All products used to create this layout are available from The Scrapbook Store

Well, I hope you like my layout as much as I enjoyed creating it.  Thank you so much for popping by my blog today.  I always appreciate it.
Until next time.

September Sketch Challenge at The Scrapbook Store

Hi everyone.  Today I would like to share the September Sketch Challenge at The Scrapbook Store with you all.  You still have 2 weeks left to get your entries in. There's a $40 Store voucher up for grabs as well as free postage! The winner gets determined by random draw, so anybody can win. :) Why not give it a go? I would love to see your take on the sketch. :)
My take on the sketch, using the gorgeous Prima 'Garden Fable' collection
The birdie is a wood veneer piece from 'Garden Fable'.  I have added a bit of white and black details. I've cut the nest and leaves from one of the patterned papers and the branch is from Dusty Attic.
The butterflies were painted with Luminarte Silks. I love the gorgeous shiny colours. :)  The house and some of the flowers were cut from the patterned papers too. The rest of the flowers are from the collection with a few Green Tara mini roses.  The keyhole is also a wood veneer piece from the collection. :)
I've added some texture using my Tim Holtz 'Tiles' stencil and some texture paste. More colour was added in the form of Glimmer Mist 'drips'.  :)
That is all I have for today. I hope to be back soon, with more 'creativeness' to share. :)
Thank you so much for popping by. Hope you have a wonderful week.
Until next time.

August Sketch Challenge at The Scrapbook Store

Today I want to share the August Sketch Challenge at The Scrapbook Store with you. Even though I left it quite late, you still have plenty of time to enter. Lucky for me, August is a long month! ;)
My take on the sketch, using the new Maja Design 'Summer Crush' papers.  I've added some texture to my background using the Crafters Workshop 'Art Is' stencil and texture paste followed by Glimmer Mist for some colour.  I then added more interest by using Kaisercraft Texture stamps.
The flowers are a mixture of Prima and Green Tara mini roses with a bit of added seam binding.
The paper doilies were originally white and I coloured them up using Distress Inks.
I've used a 2 Crafty chipboard title as it was perfect for my photo. :)
All products are from The Scrapbook Store.  I hope you get a chance to play along. I would love to see your entries. There's a $40 store voucher up for grabs and it includes free postage. The winner gets determined by random draw, so anybody can win.  You have until the end of August to get your entries in. :)

That's all I have for today. Thank you so much for visiting. Have a beautiful week!

April Sketch Challenge at The Scrapbook Store

Where has the time gone? My boy is home for the 2 week uni holiday and my girl and hubby are home too, so I think there are too many distractions and lovely things to do.  Hubby and I also celebrated our 25the wedding anniversary on Tuesday and a few friends and I organised a surprise 50th birthday party on Saturday for another friend.  With all the extra activities, no wonder I'm not getting time for blogging. :)
A bit on the late side, but today I want to share the April Sketch at The Scrapbook Store with you.

Here is my example, using the gorgeous new Bo Bunny 'Garden Journal' collection.  You might recognise some (or all 3) of the lovely ladies in the photo. :)
The fence is from Dusty Attic and I've treated it with a layer of brown acrylic paint followed by a layer of white crackle paint.
The banner was fussy cut from one of the patterned papers in this collection and the title is an older Heidi Swapp alpha set that I coloured up using Distress ink.
I have used a variety of Prima flowers and Green Tara mini roses. The leaves were punched from cardstock using a Martha Stewart punch.
All products are from The Scrapbook Store.  I hope you get a chance to play along with us. There's a $40 store voucher up for grabs and it also includes free postage. The winner gets determined by random draw, so anybody can win.  You have until the end of April to get your entries in. Good luck!
That's all for today. Thank you so much for visiting. Have an absolute wonderful week!
Until next time.

More of Authentique 'Classique Beauty'

Hi everyone! I'm back with another share working with the gorgeous Authentique 'Classique Beauty' collection for The Scrapbook Store.  As the name would suggest it is primarily a feminine collection, but nothing like a challenge hey?  I've decided to use a photo of my son and I and wanted to try and keep the layout masculine as far as possible.  I thought I could get away with a few flowers because I was in the photo too. ;)

A close up of my little cluster of Petaloo flowers, Green Tara Mini roses and stickers.  I had great fun tearing some washi tape into thin strips to add a bit of red to my layout.
The light bulb is from 2 Crafty and the arrows are Prima crystals from my stash.
I've created my background using a Tim Holtz 'Dot Fade' stencil and texture paste and then added layers with different stamps from Tim Holtz and Prima. The 2Crafty 'Interlocking Grid Panel' chipboard looked great with just a layer of black ink.
I was inspired by the gorgeous mood board at Scrap Around The World. The quote is pretty much how this photo makes me feel and the yellow just matched perfectly. I also thought that the  arrows were a nice touch.
That's all I have for today, but will be back soon with another creation or two.
Thank you so much for visiting my blog. Have a wonderful day.
Until next time.

March Sketch Challenge at The Scrapbook Store

Hi everyone! Welcome back to my blog. I apologise for my long absence. I've taken  a little break from most things crafty as I had a few things that needed my attention.  It's the first time I took time away from scrapbooking in 12 years, but now I am back and hopefully ready for another 12 years!

The first thing I want to share with you is the March Sketch Challenge at The Scrapbook Store.
Here is my take on it.  I've used the gorgeous new Simple Stories 'I am' collection.
A close up showing some of the texture I've created using the Tim Holtz 'Dot Fade' stencil and texture paste.
I've cut the flowers from one of the patterned papers and also added stamping using the Kaisercraft 'Grid' texture stamp with black Staz On ink.
The butterfly is from the 'Bits & Pieces' packet from this collection.  I've added some Clearsnap Smooch Glitz 'Frost' to create a bit of shine.
I hope you get a chance to play along. There is a $40 store voucher up for grabs and it also includes free postage. The winner gets determined by random draw, so anyone can win.
That's all I have for now.  I promise to be back soon with another share.
As always, thank you so much for visiting. I appreciate it.
Until next time!

October Sketch Challenge at The Scrapbook Store

Hi everyone!  Today I want to share the October Sketch Challenge at The Scrapbook Store.  Here is the sketch.  Hope you like it!
And my example using the beautiful Maja Design 'Vintage Spring Basics' collection.  The photos are of my friend's gorgeous little girl, taken a few years ago. :)
The chipboard circle is the 'Small Circle Flourish' from Blue Fern Studios.  I gave it a coat of gesso and then coloured it up using various inks
The background texture was achieved using the 'Bubble' stencil from Tim Holtz and some texture paste.  The flowers are a mixture of Prima and Green Tara Cheery blossoms and mini roses.
Another little cluster in the corner.  The leaves are 2Crafty 'Summer Leaf Stems' chipboard.
That's all for today.  Please check out the Gallery for more awesome inspiration from the rest of the DT.  And then play along!  You have until the end of October to get your entries in.  There's an awesome $40 store voucher up for grabs with free postage and the winner gets determined by random draw, so anyone can win!  I would love to see your entries. :)

September Sketch Challenge at The Scrapbook Store

Hi everyone and happy Friday to you all.  Today I want to share the September Sketch Challenge at The Scrapbook Store with you.  For my take on the sketch I've used the gorgeous Carta Bella 'Moments & Memories' with a photo of my mum and her sister.  They are both in their 80's now and have always been best friends. :)
A close up of some of my fussy cutting. The alphas are from an older Prima collection.
I've used some white Prima flowers and mini roses from Green Tara. Just dabbed on a bit of mist with a brush at the centres and tips for a two-tone effect..
Another close up of one of the clusters.
Almost everything on this layout comes from the Carta Bella 'Moments and Memories' collection.  I really LOVE it and can see myself using it for another layout soon.
And finally, the sketch. :)
I hope you can join in this month.  I would love to see your entry and there's a $40 store voucher up for grabs.  The winner gets determined by random draw, so anyone could win!  Why not give it a go?  You have until midnight, 30 September to get your entries in.

Hi everyone! It's been a long long time since I've last been in blogland.  We've had a fantastic 4 week break, but now it's back to normality... not that it's a bad thing. :)  I hope you've all been keeping well.
Today I want to share the latest sketch challenge over at Scrap Africa with you.
My take on the sketch using the Heidi Swapp 'Dreamy' collection.
I've used a variety of Manor House flowers, Petaloo blooms and Green Tara flower stems.  The butterflies are from Collections Elements.
I've used The Crafters Workshop 'Chicken Wire Reversed' template on my background with some texture paste. Then rubbed some ink over it using my fingers.  All the transparency elements are from the ephemera pack from the collection and all products used are available from The Scrapbook Store.
I hope you get a chance to play along with us.  We would love to see your entries. For more detail and to check out the rest of the DT's fabulous examples, have a look HERE.

June Sketch Challenge at The Scrapbook Store

Hi everyone! I know, I am VERY late sharing The Scrapbook Store's Sketch Challenge this month.  You still have until the end of the month to enter our June Sketch Challenge. Here's the sketch:
My take on the sketch. The photo is of my 2 kids with my mum and dad in the background (taken in January 2008).
I've used the 'Gingers Dreams' sheet from the new Blue Fern Studios 'Ombre Dreams' collection as my background paper.  I added dimension, using a Prima template and Memory Box stencil and texture paste, before adding mists and inks.  The chipboard are Blue Fern  Studios 'Graduated Circles' and Dusty Attic 'Scroll Border #3'.  All chipboard pieces were first covered in gesso, before I added mists and inks to colour them up.
The flowers are from Petaloo, Kaisercraft and Green Tara and the title is a wordlet from Scrap FX.
Another few close ups of the background. The butterflies are Heidi Swapp epoxy stickers.

So why not play along?  There's a $40 Store Voucher up for grabs and you also get free postage!! That's a pretty awesome prize. :) The winner gets determined by random draw, so anyone could win!  Just upload your entries in the Gallery before the end of the month to stand a chance.
Okay, that's all for today.  Hope you have a fabulous week and once again thank you so much for visiting my blog.
