Scrap Africa Challenge No 30 - 'Scrap your Stash'

Hi everyone! I've just realised how long ago I've last been here.  Life has been very hectic lately, but I've been having loads of fun! Today I just want to pop in quickly to share the latest Scrap Africa challenge with you.  The challenge is hosted by fellow DT member, Erica Houghton
Here is what Erica has to say:  'Challenge No. 30 is all about Scrapping Your Stash! Dig deep and pull out those collections that are 3 years or older; if you're newer to scrapbooking and don't have paper older than 3 years just use your oldest paper. We'd also love to see you use some of those older products that are possibly not so "in" at the moment e.g. rub-ons, eyelets, etc. Get creative, have fun, and use up some of your stash!'

Now isn’t this a challenge we can all play along with?!!

For more information and to see all the beautiful examples of the rest of the DT and Guest DT members, go HERE.

Here is my example.  Everything used on this card (except for the flowers) are from a very old Kaisercraft collection, called ‘Chapter One’.  I gave the card to my daughter who is currently writing her uni exams.

A close up of my flower cluster.  The big roses are from Kaisercraft and the smaller roses and leaves are from Green Tara.
The rubon in the corner as well as the butterfly are from the Chapter One collection.  The rhinestones are from Kaisercraft too.
Another few close ups for good measure. :)

We would love for you to play along with this challenge, as I'm sure we all have old stash waiting to be used. :)  You have until the 30th of June to get your entries in!
I'll be back in a few days with more to share.
Have a great week everyone!
Until next time.

Scrap Africa Challenge #24

Hi everyone! No I haven't vanished from the face of the earth... just finding it very difficult to juggle all the different balls at the moment.  I have to apologise for being so 'blog absent' at the moment.  I am hoping to have a big blog catch up soon.  Wednesday will be my last day of work for the year and on Thursday my DD and I are going to try and get our last Christmas shopping done.  Nothing like leaving it to the last minute hey?
Scrap Africa has a new challenge and it's very appropriate one for this time of the year.  Create a layout, card, tag or OTP project using Glitter, Snowflakes and Masking. For more inspiration, check out the post on the Scrap Africa blog here.
Here is my example.  I've used papers from the Kaisercraft 'Christmas Carol' collection and a mask from Prima with some texture paste for the background.
I've cut 3 different sized snowflakes from silver glitter cardstock using my Silhouette Cameo and layered them.  The gem in the centre is an old one from Prima... I think. :)

I've also cut the word 'joy' from the same silver glitter cardstock.
I hope your holiday program will allow you a bit of time to play along with our challenge. :)  I also hope that I'll have time to do one more blog post before Christmas, but in case of the unfortunate event that I don't, I want to wish you all a very blessed and happy Christmas!
Thank you for visiting and have a wonderful week.
Until next time!

August Sketch at The Scrapbook Store

Hi everyone! I am determined to break the 'post drought' on my blog. Lol! I'm hoping to do more than one post a week from now one. Wish me luck! :)
The August sketch at The Scrapbook Store was designed by Melinda Spinks and it's just beautiful!
My take on it. I've turned the sketch on it's side to suit my photo. The photo is of my friend and her baby girl taken in the Spring flowers at Kings Park in 2009.  I've used the Kaisercraft 'Enchanted Garden' collection and I've used the Heidi Swapp 'Sunshine' stencil as a guide to create the 'rays'.
A few close up to show some of the detail.  The little fairies and butterflies are just so cute. :)
These flowers from Petaloo worked perfectly with this collection.
I cut the title using my Silhouette Cameo.
I hope you get a chance to play along.  There is a $40 store voucher up for grabs, including free postage! The winner gets determined by random draw, so anyone can win!  You have until the end of August to get your entries in. Good luck! :)
Thank you for visiting and to everyone who leaves me lovely comments. I appreciate it.
Until next time!

'Porcelain Rose' layouts

Oh dear, it seems like I haven't really been improving on the blog front hey? :( I have a lot going on at the moment... a few health issues and a 18th birthday party to plan for this coming Saturday. I have managed to scrap a few pages with my DT kit from The Scrapbook Store, so that must be good thing!
I have been using the 'Porcelain Rose' collection from Kaisercraft this month.  In this first layout I have used pics of me on my 4th birthday. :)
My flower cluster consists out of a combination of flowers from Petaloo, Manor House and Green Tara.  The leaves/vines were cut using the Memory Box 'Fresh Foliage' die.
The lace is from Green Tara too and the flower trim from my stash. :)
The chipboard is TSS chipboard and the paper doily is from Bo Bunny.
In the next layout I have used a pic of my DH and his sister and mum.  I thought the papers were great for an outdoorsy feel.
The chipboard title is from WOW.
I have made another layout and card using this collection, but still have to photograph it.  So, I think this is all for today.  Hope you are having a wonderful week. Thank you so much for visiting.
Until next time!

June Sketch at Scrap Afica

Hi everyone!  It's a new month and that brings new challenges.  Scrap Africa's June sketch is up and the DT girls have done a fabulous job providing you with wonderful inspiration.

Here is my example.  I've used the Kaisercraft 'On This Day' collection with loads of Prima flowers and a few Kaisercraft mini paper blooms.  All the leaves were punched out using the Martha Stewart 'frond' punch. The photo is of my mum and her dad at the end of the aisle on her wedding day in 1959.  I love scrapping these old pics. :)
Some close ups of the flowers. :)
... and the title using some Prima fabric alphas.
I hope you will play along with us this month.  It would be great to see your interpretation!
We have a long weekend in Western Australia with Monday being a public holiday! I am looking forwatd to spend more time with the family as I was away all last weekend.
Thank you so much for popping by and I hope you have a fabulous weekend!
Until next time!

Scrap Africa's Chipboard Challenge

Hi there everyone! Hope you are having a great week. I am enjoying the lovely autumn weather we are having in Perth at the moment. :)  Scrap Africa is having a new challenge and the Design Team was sponsered with some stunning chipboard pieces from DESIGN WORX this month.  They have some really beautiful unique designs and they are also sponsoring the random prize for this month's challenge.  Yes, you've guessed it.. the challenge this month is to use at least one chipboard piece on your layout. Pretty easy hey?  Here is my example.
I've used the new Kaisercraft 'On This Day' collection and added a few Prima flowers. :)  The crocheted lace trim is from Green Tara and the two top layers were punched using my Martha Stewart 'Doily Lace' edger punch.
Another close up (or two).  The border on the outside edge of my layout were punched using the 'Cherish' Punch Around the Page Set.
This is one of the chipboard pieces that were sent to me by the lovely Denise from Scrap Africa.  I love the words and it says pretty much exactly how I feel about my DD. :)
The chippie frame around my photo is also one from Design Worx.
I hope you are inspired to play along with this challenge.  You can check out the beautiful examples of the rest of the DT HERE.  You have until the end of May to play along.
Thank you for visitng and enjoy the rest of your week.
Until next time!

New month, new sketch and new DT!

Hi everyone! It's been a strange January for me.  No running around getting kids ready for school. I'm almost feeling a bit lost! Lol! I'm sure the feeling will pass quickly though. :)
There is a new sketch up at The Scrapbook Store. Another beauty designed by Nadia. :)
Here is my take on it, using the beautiful Kaisercraft 'Tropicana' collection.  Just perfect for some of our Bali photos.  This is my DD and her bestie having cocktails in one of the many restaurants we ate at.
A close up of some of the fussy cutting. :)

More fussy cutting. :)
And the title I cut using my Silhouette machine.  I am determined to use it a LOT more this year. :)
I hope you are going to play along with the sketch.  There is an awesome $40 store voucher up for grabs and the winner gets determined by random draw, so anybody can win!  Pretty awesome hey? You can read all the latest news in the newsletter HERE.

Guest DT member for Scrap Africa!

Second post in just over a day!  Most unusual for me. I know.  I did say yesterday that I will have something exciting to share in today's post... and now you know!  I am totally thrilled to be a Guest DT member at SCRAP AFRICA this month!  You can read all about the new challenge and see the reveal of all the gorgeous layouts from the rest of the DT members HERE.
So the challenge is:
Use postage stamps on your layout, old, new, rubber stamped stamps, whatever you have in your stash!!  You have until the 31st of January to get your entries in!

Here is my example.  I've used the Kaisercraft 'Check In' collection.  It's a gorgeous range suited for all your travel photos.  The photo is of my DD while on holiday in Bali during early December 2012.  My main focus was to try and convert the photo into a postage stamp, therefor the money value near the top of the photo.
A close up of some of the embellishments.  The smaller stamp 'frame' was made using an older Cuttelbug die I had in my stash for ages. :)

Some of the tickets that come with this range. :)
And my journaling on a tag, just to fit in with the theme. :)
That's all for today! Hope you are having a great day and a lovely week! Thank you so much for visiting!
Until next time!

A bit more 'Marigold'

Hi everyone. I'm back to share another layout using my DT kit from The Scrapbook Store. To be really honest, I'm not all that fond of the first two I did earlier this month. :(  So last night I sat down and realised that I just have to go with what comes natural for me. No use pushing the boandries every time hey? I had this beautiful background paper from the Kaisercraft 'Marigold' collection and found an older photo of my mum and I and this is what I came up with.
A little close up of the beautiful Dusty Attic Birdcage chipboard. Just spread a thin layer of Gesso over the top.  Also used some Texture Magic and my Crafters Workshop 'Cherry Blossom' template to create a subtle textured background at the top of my page.
The Collectables that come with this range makes it really easy to embellish your pages.  Also used a variety of Kaisercraft Paper blooms and Prima flowers.
I cut the leave using the Poppy Stamps 'Lorelai Leaf' die.
The chipboard words for my title are from the TSS Chipboard 'Assorted Words 07'.  Love using these smaller words on my layouts. :)   And I don't seem to ever get enough of using these Kaisercraft pearl strips. Just finishes a page of so nicely I think.
That's all from me today! I'll be back in a day or two with an exciting share. :)
Hope you are all managing to stay cool.  It's been extremely hot and humid in Perth for the last 2 days.  Looking forward to the cooler weather they are predicting for tomorrow.
Thank you for visiting.
Until next time!
