Scrap Africa Challenge #24

Hi everyone! No I haven't vanished from the face of the earth... just finding it very difficult to juggle all the different balls at the moment.  I have to apologise for being so 'blog absent' at the moment.  I am hoping to have a big blog catch up soon.  Wednesday will be my last day of work for the year and on Thursday my DD and I are going to try and get our last Christmas shopping done.  Nothing like leaving it to the last minute hey?
Scrap Africa has a new challenge and it's very appropriate one for this time of the year.  Create a layout, card, tag or OTP project using Glitter, Snowflakes and Masking. For more inspiration, check out the post on the Scrap Africa blog here.
Here is my example.  I've used papers from the Kaisercraft 'Christmas Carol' collection and a mask from Prima with some texture paste for the background.
I've cut 3 different sized snowflakes from silver glitter cardstock using my Silhouette Cameo and layered them.  The gem in the centre is an old one from Prima... I think. :)

I've also cut the word 'joy' from the same silver glitter cardstock.
I hope your holiday program will allow you a bit of time to play along with our challenge. :)  I also hope that I'll have time to do one more blog post before Christmas, but in case of the unfortunate event that I don't, I want to wish you all a very blessed and happy Christmas!
Thank you for visiting and have a wonderful week.
Until next time!

Scrap Africa's December Sketch Challenge

Hi there everyone!  I can't believe it's December already.  I am so not prepared for Christmas.  Lucky I still have a few weeks hey?!
Scrap Africa has the new sketch up for December.  For my example. I've decided to start with a blank piece of chipboard. Very unlike me to be so brave. ;)
I first covered my chipboard with a layer of gesso and once dried I've added some dimension using my 12 x 12 Prima 'Checker' mask and some texture paste.  Before lifting the stencil I sprayed some Heidi Swapp Color Shine 'Seafoam' over it.  I created my drips and circle 'stains' using the  Lindy Stamp Gang 'Buccaneer Bronze' mist.  All the paper are from the Marion Smith 'Nirvana' collection - one of my most favourite ranges ever! The photo is of my grandfather who passed away in 1985.  I am planning on getting more information about his life to add to this layout.
A few metal gears and a WOW mini chipboard title.
I cut the big clock and clock hands from chipboard using a Tim Holtz die. I gave it coat of black paint and then rubbed some Baroque Art 'Inca Gold' Gilders Paste onto the edges to 'age' it a bit.  I did the same with my chipboard title.  Love how it turned out.  The rest of the clocks and the butterfly were fussy cut from one of the papers in the Marion Smith 'Nirvana' collection.
Another little close up showing some of the 'stains' and stamping.
The book paper is a piece from the Splash of Color 'Book pages'.
And here is the sketch. For more inspiration from the rest of the DT, have a look HERE.
I would love to see your take on the sketch!  You have until the 14th of December to get your entries in.
That's all I have for today.  Thank you so much for popping in!  Have a wonderful week!
Until next time.

Prima 'Delight' for The Scrapbook Store

Hi everyone! I really seem to be struggling this month to meet all my deadlines, but I'm sure I'm not alone. :)  So, today I want to share some of my DT work for The Scrapbook Store, using the delightful Prima 'Delight' collection.  First up is a layout using a photo of my gorgeous Mum.
Most of the flowers and the flair badge are from the Prima 'Delight' range, with a few added Green Tara Mini roses and a Green Tara flower stem.
I've used my Prima 'Damask' mask and some texture paste on the background and coloured up some Prima Resist Canvas borders and white Green Tara lace with my mists.  The title is a wood veneer mini wordlet from WOW.
I love the new Bark Shapes from Prima. Such a gorgeous rough texture on the butterfly don't you think?
My second layout is of my mum with my brother and our cousin in 1966.  When I saw the 'recipe' card, I knew I had to use this photo.  As my mum has always been very health conscience, there were always healthy (and normally homemade) snacks in the house. This photo was no doubt taken on one of those days where she was feeding 2 hungry children an afternoon snack.
The tickets and tags in this collection are just so lovely.  I've used one of the tickets as my title.  Just added one of the wooden frames to draw more attention to it. :)  I've also added more 'hidden' journaling on the tag.

Another flower and flair badge from this collection.   I've added a few Green Tara mini roses and rose buds to complete my little cluster.
A few more mini roses and a wooden frame to complete my recipe card.  This time I used the Prima 'Circular Lattice' stencil with some texture paste on my background.

The two feathers are also part of the pack of wooden embellishments from this collection.  I've added a bit of colour using my ink pads.

I am hoping to complete another layout or 2 using this collection tomorrow. Fingers crossed nothing comes up to ruin my fun! Lol!
Thank you for popping by. I really appreciate your support.
Until next time!

November Sketch Challenge at The Scrapbook Store

Happy weekend everyone! Hope all's well in your knack of the woods.
I know I'm running awfully late this month, but I want to share my take on the November Sketch Challenge at The Scrapbook Store. Melinda Spinks has once again designed a stunning sketch for us. :)
I've used the Pink Paislee 'Color Wash' collection for my example.  I love the soft colours of this range.
The chipboard word is from this collection too. The flowers are mainly from Green Tara.
The frame around my photo and the canvas stickers are also from the Pink Paislee 'Color Wash' collection.
The pre-cut stars on this paper really came to life after I backed my paper with yellow cardstock. I've added some foam squares around the stars (at the back of the paper) which gave it more depth once I added the cardstock. :)
You still have until the end of the month to get your entries in.  There's a $40 store voucher up for grabs and the winner gets determined by random draw, so anyone could win!  Hope to see your entry soon. :)
Thank you so much for visiting. Have a wonderful weekend!
Until next time!

'White with a Pinch Of'

Hi there blog friends! I hope you are all well. I can't believe it's been so long since my last blog post!
I've spent this past weekend at The Scrapbook Store's Retreat and as per usual had an absolute blast! I did manage to get a few layouts done, in between all the chatting and laughing. :)
But, before I carry on for too much longer, I want to share the latest challenge at Scrap Africa with you.
The challenge is "White with a pinch of" and is about creating a project that is 90% white and 10% any other colours.
Here is my take on it.  I've used a photo of my friend's little girl and mainly added my colour in the form of butterflies.  Can you believe I fussy cut all of them?! :)
I then finished it off with a few flowers, a couple of words and my title, which I cut 3 times in coordinating paper using the Die-Versions 'Precious' die.
To avoid allocating too much 'space' to colour, I added a couple of stitched circles.

To see all the other DT members' gorgeous examples, take a look HERE.
You have until the end of November to link up your entries. Why not give it a go?

That's all for today.  I will be back soon with another layout to share. Hopefully I can change this 'blog drought' for a while!
Thank you so much for visiting! Have a wonderful week!
Until next time.

Sketch No 23 @ Scrap Africa

Hi everyone! I'm still here! Just don't have much time to get on the internet these days, but I'm sure that will change soon. :) Just popping in to share the latest sketch challenge at Scrap Africa with you.
Here's the gorgeous sketch.
And here is my take on it.   The photo is of my mum and her sister while they were visiting us about a year ago.  I've used the beautiful new Prima 'Anna Marie' collection which I just LOVE! :)
A little close up of my title.  I've cut the words 'sisters' and 'forever' using my Silhouette Cameo.
 Another few close ups. :)

I hope you get a chance to play along with us.  Head over to the Scrap Africa Blog to see the other DT members' fabulous examples.  You have until the 14th of November to get your entries in.

That's all I have today! I hope I get a chance to get into my craft room soon to have a play and onto the internet to leave some love on my favourite blogs.
Thank you so much for visiting and for all your beautiful comments.  I appreciate it.
Have a wonderful week.
Until next time!

The 'pinker' side of Bo Bunny 'The Avenues' for The Scrapbook Store

Hi everyone! Long time no 'see'. I've been a very busy little bee... on the work front as well as at home.  Hope you are all well and are enjoying a lovely weekend.
I've created another layout with the gorgeous Bo Bunny 'The Avenues' collection as part of my DT work at The Scrapbook Store. I am so in love with this collection, but then I've always been a Bo Bunny fan. :)  For this layout I've decided to use the pinker side of this collection and was amazed at how different it looks from my other 2 layouts.
The photo is of my MIL enjoying the view at one of the sites we visited during a recent holiday. I've used a selection of Petaloo flowers (I love them!), Prima flowers, Green Tara mini roses, flower stems and cherry blossoms. The leaves were cut using the Poppy Stamps 'Lorelai Leaf' die. I've also used the Crafters Workshop 'Mini Art Is' template with Golden Light Molding Paste and Color Box 'Chiffon' Inx (which I applied with my finger).
The title is Prima fabric alphas and AC Thickers. :)
I've also used the Prima 'Damask' mask and used Tim Holtz 'Peeled Paint' Distress Ink to colour it.  Used both my Martha Stewart butterfly punches for the butterfly.  Just added some pearls.
That's all I have for today.  Hope to be back soon with more creativeness to share. Thank you so much for visiting.  Have a fabulous weekend!
Until next time.

Challenge No. 22 @ Scrap Africa and more Bo Bunny 'The Avenues'

Hi everyone! I hope your week started off well. I have been very busy of late and I'm sure most of you will agree with me that the last 3 months of the year are always busier then any other time of the year. Well, nothing we can do about it, so better fasten the seatbelts and get ready for the ride! :)
The new challenge is live at Scrap Africa and its one that I particularly loved doing.  Talented DT member Elena Smoktunova is hosting it this month and its all about 'resisting'.  You can find all the details and see the gorgeous examples of the DT members HERE.
Here is my example.
I've used my DT kit from The Scrapbook Store and photos from one of our recent holidays. The papers and diecuts are from the Bo Bunny 'The Avenues' collection. LOVE this collection!
My method of resist was to use my Tim Holtz 'Burlap' stencil and Texture Magic.  I then applied some mists and inks over it.  One of my favourite techniques. :)
A bit of hemp twine for my circle and for the banner and a few Petaloo flowers to finish it off nicely.
The coffee cup/glass 'stains' were achieved with my Crafters Workshop 6x6 'Well Rounded' template and brown ink.  The birdie is a diecut from the Bo Bunny 'The Avenues' collection.
That's all from me today.  I hope you get a chance to play along.  You've got until the end of October to get your entries in!
Thank you for visiting!
Until next time.

Bo Bunny 'The Avenues' for The Scrapbook Store

Hi everyone! Happy weekend to you all.  Hope you have something lovely planned.  I just have a quick layout to share.  I have received the totally gorgeous Bo Bunny 'The Avenues' collection in my DT kit from The Scrapbook Store this month.  I just love how easy this layout came together.  The photo is of my SIL and I, taken when she was visiting us in March this year.
A close up of my flower cluster.  I 'built' my cluster around the bird image that was already printed on the paper.  I've mainly used Petaloo flowers, as well as a Green Tara flower and flower vine.
I fussy cut some of the clocks out of one of the patterned papers, layered them, then added some Tim Holtz metal gears.  The birdcage is a vintage charm from TSS.
My newly purchased Tim Holtz 'Rays' stencil work beautifully with a bit of Lindy Stamp Gang 'California Poppy Gold mist.  I simply LOVE my new Scrap FX 'Random Dots' stencil.  Used with some texture paste it gives such great dimension.
Another close up for good measure. :)
That's all for today, but I'll be back in a few days to share more Bo Bunny layouts. :)
Thank you so much for popping in.  Have a wonderful weekend.
Until next time!

October Sketch Challenge at The Scrapbook Store

Hi everyone! Just a quick post to share the October Sketch Challenge at The Scrapbook Store.  I've decided to explore my 'inner messy side' again. Lol!  The people who know me well enough will know that I don't cope very well with 'mess', but I am getting better at it..... I think. :) Some parts of the process didn't go too well, but it created opportunities for unique embellishment placement. ;)

I used 2 different mists for my background.  One of them is 'California Poppy Gold' from Lindys Stamp Gang (which I just LOVE) and the other is the more vibrant 'Postbox Red' from Dylusions Ink
For the branches, I used a combination of template work as well as using my Silhouette machine.  The flowers are a mixture of Prima, Petaloo and Green Tara.  I love my gorgeous new Scrap FX 'Random Dots' stencil.  Can see myself using it over and over again. :)

And here is the gorgeous sketch, designed by Melinda Spinks. :)
I hope you find a moment to play along.  There's a $40 store voucher up for grabs and the winner gets determined by random draw, so anyone can win!  Just load your take on the sketch into the Gallery before the end of October.  Would love to see your entry!
That's all for today.  Thank you for visiting and have a wonderful week!
Until next time.
